Altstadt (Old Town) Tour Plus Kind (6-13 Jahre)

Detailed description

Discover the Old Town anew – a guided tour through the streets of Old Town brings its history and stories to life with the help of augmented reality elements*

Düsseldorf’s Old Town is often referred to as the ‘longest bar in the world’ due to its many pubs and places to go out. But there’s much more to its narrow alleys and venerable buildings, with plenty of history and quite a few stories to be discovered. Using augmented reality (AR) multimedia elements, the guided tour provides a glimpse behind closed doors and into bygone ages and special events.

The Burgplatz (square) with the Schlossturm (palace tower) holds great charm. The Schlossturm (palace tower) is the only remnant of the castle built in the 16th century and which was demolished after a fire in the 19th century Burgplatz. The oldest inland navigation museum in Germany has been housed here since 1984.

Your tour ticket includes free entance on the same day. (All museums in Düsseldorf are closed on mondays)

Find out what particular locations looked like hundreds of years ago, see the city when it’s gripped by carnival fever, and discover what went on in the Old Town in times past.

The tour employs AR elements at several points to bring the city’s stories and history to life. Tablets provide an additional dimension as you’re walking along, showing pictures, models and videos that allow you to explore what you cannot, or can no longer, see.

Duration: Approx. 90 min.
